Mother's Day & MORE!

Josh the Otter! My boss came across this resource to help inform young students about water safety. Check it out here http://www.joshtheotter.org/ and I believe it is free! Each of my students got a free book, coloring activity, bookmark, sticker, and more!

Happy Mother's Day! We made our mommy's a birthday card and a mommy crown (I forgot to take pictures of the crown).

Last day of school! Although since it is a year round school, I will see them all next week! No tears yet!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

We learned that it is very important to brush our teeth at least twice a day! We brush before we come to school and before we go to sleep. It is also important to floss our teeth to get all the sugar bugs out! We used mini marshmallows as teeth and yellow yarn as floss for our art project. We then wrote underneath that "We can brush and floss our teeth!"

In honor of Easter, I made a fun subtraction activity. Each student was given a paper Easter egg, 6 jelly beans, and a dye. The Easter egg starts out with 6 jelly beans. Then the student rolls the dye and takes that many jelly beans out. They then write their math equation on the mini whiteboard. The kiddos had a blast because who doesn't like working with jelly beans?! :D

I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to my students! They loved the book and we discussed the importance of a healthy meal. I found an activity online where the students colored the different types of food the caterpillar ate and they were to put it in chronological order.

My class loves mini books they can color and read! We had a mini sight word book about Earth Day! Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle!

Happy Easter

The Easter bunny came to our school! The kids had a mini egg hunt inside the gym.

We made Easter baskets out of paper plates and decorated paper eggs to glue on!

Friday, I created my own egg hunt for kindergarten by hiding eggs in the playground outside. Each egg had a written sight word or CVC word with a jelly bean. The kids had to read each word before eating the jelly bean :)

Happy Easter :)

St. Patrick's Week

This was such a fun week with the kiddos! We talked about the tiny people called leprechauns who hides a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Leprechauns love to eat candy, so we decided to make a colorful trap to catch a leprechaun so we can have the pot of gold!

A picture of a leprechaun trap. These students made a ladder for the tiny leprechaun to enter.

The next day.......

A leprechaun came to visit and left his green dust! He left a note...

We searched for the pot of gold at the playground....

We spotted it at the top of this structure!

The golden coins were delicious! Yum!!!

Dr. Seuss!

This week we are celebrating a famous author's, Dr. Seuss, birthday. In honor of Dr. Seuss, I read one of his books each day to the class. We tried green eggs, made cat in the hat hats, and much more!

The kids loved this book and making the hats.

Green Eggs!!!

We love green eggs! Or at least most of us tried it which was the big idea in the story :D
